Continuing with its sustainability plan and following an exhaustive life cycle analysis of these product ranges—also key within Pemsa’s portfolio—the company has developed 4 new Environmental Product Declarations for its Metatray® insulated cable tray system, its halogen-free rigid conduit ranges RLH and RPVC, as well as the halogen-free corrugated CLH system, covering almost the entirety of its product catalogue.
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a document that describes the environmental profile of a product, providing quantified environmental data according to predefined parameter categories based on the ISO 14025 and EN 15804 standards related to life cycle assessment.
An EPD quantifies material and energy consumption and the values achieved by the product across various environmental impact categories. This ensures that the information provided is reliable, relevant, transparent, comparable and verifiable, thus enabling rigorous and accurate environmental communication.
To develop these declarations, Pemsa conducted a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of its cable management systems to evaluate environmental impacts from the extraction of raw materials to end-of-life, resulting in a clearer understanding of their environmental footprint.

As a new feature in these EPDs, the LCA now includes stages A4 (Transport to site) and A5 (Installation on site), both essential for providing the most complete and transparent information for calculating emissions and carbon footprint in projects.
Verified by AENOR through the Global EPD programme, these declarations evaluate products and manufacturing processes in terms of environmental improvement, life cycle, carbon footprint reduction and more. They also demonstrate compliance with current environmental regulations and are essential for obtaining sustainability certifications in projects such as LEED and BREEAM.
This enables clients to make more sustainable decisions based on real, up-to-date data, contributing to the implementation of more environmentally responsible projects.
Pemsa’s EPDs are available at Certificates.
